The newest interest group, International women’s issues is a group that examines the issues that women in other parts of the world face and how those issues are addressed.

At our first meeting, Betsy presented information about the IFUW and their American Affiliate and we discussed the reasons behind AAUW leaving the International Federation some years ago. We were interested particularly in the topics that IFUW has identified for action and, because our meeting in January 2012 is on the subject of trafficking, we chose that.
Our presentations in November will cover Cesar Rey (January speaker), The Ricky Martin Foundation, United Way agencies dealing with trafficking, a preliminary bibliography and statistics on trafficking worldwide. We will also discuss the book ‘Half the Sky” which has real life stories by women who were trafficked.
