Perfect Pairings is a wine and food pairing dinner that our branch has used for fundraising for the past (you guessed it!) seven years.  Besides really good food and some interesting wines, we have also enjoyed the company of members, spouses and friends in venues like Ruth”s Chris, 1919, Bistro de Paris, and Augusto’s.

This year our venue was the Caparra Country Club on Sunday, April 17th.  We had a prosecco cocktail hour (donated by Cooca Cola) in the club’s wonderful bar.  A donor also paid for the piano music we enjoyed as we all greeted each other and our guests.  Dinner was served in a beautiful dining room with recently installed major art pieces.

We had raffle prizes as well as auction items, but our biggest reward came during the “Dutch Auction,” a stellar fundraiser the year before also.

The “Dutch Auction” is an auction where everyone gets to bid at the level he/she is comfortable.  Starting with bids of $500, the auctioneer, member Mayra Sanchez, lowered the “bid” by steps to $200, $100, $75 and $50 and all those willing to contribute at each level were able to be included.  That raffle alone raised $4600!  All the proceeds go to our fund for NCCWSL sponsorships.  We are trying to fund 2 young women to attend every year.  Mayra herself was in the first class at NCCWSL 2014.  Present at the event were students who attended in 2015 and the two selected to attend this year were introduced to the assemblage.
